Definitions

Define the following and give two examples of each (freeware, shareware, and commercial software you use at home and/or school)
• Freeware (2 examples you use) – Complete and functional software that does not require payment or other compensation (such as nags or advertising) for its use. Freeware may be a proprietary license with no access to the source code.
2 Examples: Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox
• Shareware (2 examples you use) - Software that you can try before you buy. It's distributed through on-line services, BBSs, and user groups. You're allowed to try it out and give copies to others, but if you want to keep using it, you must pay the registration fee.
2 Examples: Application Software and Operating System
• Open source (do you use? If so, give an example) - Open source describes practices in production and development that promote access to the end product's source materials—typically, their source code.
Example: Yes, Open Office
• Commercial software (2 examples you use) - Commercial software, or less commonly, pay ware, is computer software that is produced for sale or that serves commercial purposes.
2 Examples: Manager Plus Pro and Raisers Edge
